You need not be a churchgoer to love an old church. The Friends are for everyone who does.
The Friends of St Nicholas are a fellowship of people — neighbours, former parishioners, lovers of history and music — who care about the survival of this thousand-year-old building and want to see it flourish.
What the Friends do
- Fund repairs and conservation that fall outside the ordinary parish budget.
- Support the music and the upkeep of the organ.
- Care for the churchyard, monuments and historic furnishings.
- Open the church to visitors and tell its story.
Membership
Annual membership starts at £25 (individual) or £40 (household); life membership and patron tiers are available. Friends receive our newsletter, an invitation to the annual Friends' service and lecture, and the quiet satisfaction of keeping a good thing standing.
